2024 Women & Allies Conference
May 2, 2024 | Hyattsville, MD
May 2, 2024 | Hyattsville, MD
In 2024, the Council of Professional Women in Banking & Finance Annual Conference has been re-branded as the MBA Women & Allies Conference. The Women & Allies Conference is designed to benefit all individuals serving in a leadership capacity within their bank – from first-level managers to executives, throughout department and support areas – who identify as women and who are allies and supporters of women.
Women are represented in all aspects of the banking industry, including the C-suite. As a society, we have come to understand that there are many more dimensions to our identity than our biology. As a community of bankers, we have an opportunity to be more thoughtful about the experiences of our peers who may face different challenges due to these dimensional facets.
All bankers have an opportunity to be thoughtful allies to others in their organization. Together we can make an intentional commitment to use our voice, credibility, knowledge, and/or power to support others.

9:15 – 10:10 a.m. - "Females Who Flourish: 5 Habits to Help You Lead with Purpose"
Presented by Janine Stange, "National Anthem Girl"
Janine’s historic journey was rooted in five life-lessons instilled by Stange’s strong-willed Italian mother who had strict rules about efficiency, organization and living an honest life. Some take-aways from her keynote:
- If you compromise your values you will ultimately lose. Why should we focus on our why? Other women are depending on us to embrace and pursue our purpose. Pave the way for them, help them see what is possible.
- If you’ve got time to ‘lean’ you’ve got time to ‘clean’. Finding calm before the storm. Build a foundation of systems that will support balance during storms, challenges that inevitably will come.
- Never let ’em see you sweat. There’s a time and a place to sweat – and that is among peers. But “Go-Time” is the least ideal time to be struggling with / or running from fears and doubts. Janine gives practical exercises to face internal and external adversity.
- Check your blindspots. Is a ‘side-show’ blurring our message? Janine illustrates the importance of finding an accountability partner, and the responsibility of being an accountability partner.
- Don’t just say you care, show you care. The core of it all. What good is any accomplishment if the platform it creates is not used to help and lift others.
