Thumbprint Signature is a tool used in more than 30 states to help prevent losses from counterfeit or stolen checks. Thumbprint Signature acts as a deterrent to those contemplating check fraud, and for those who are not deterred, law enforcement agencies have a fingerprint to identify those responsible for the fraudulent activity.

The program was developed with the help of law enforcement officials and has the full support of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The program is inexpensive and easily implemented.
