Agenda
Wednesday, May 1, 2024
8:00 – 9:00 a.m. - Registration | Continental Breakfast | Networking
9:00 – 9:05 a.m. - Welcome | Opening Remarks

9:05 – 10:00 a.m. - “The Safari Way to Greater Happiness”
Presented by Steve Fredlund, “The Safari Dude”
Life can feel like an African safari, an ongoing experience of ups & downs, high & lows, knowns & unknowns; where excitement and tension run side by side. As we learn to apply the same principles that make safaris epic, we become more engaged, less burnt out, and happier in life, work and leadership.

10:00 - 10:50 a.m. - “Antiwork: How a Savvy, Angry Generation is Rebelling Against *YOUR* Company”
Presented by Duncan Taylor, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Washington Bankers Association
This session will explore the most popular and consistent themes of the growing "antiwork" movement. How it began, where it is today, and how it directly impacts your future - and existing - workforce.
Session Objectives:
  • Help executives, leaders, and managers identify the ways they unwittingly contribute to the antiwork mindset
  • Examine the cost of workers who are disengaged…or worse
  • Discuss how to avoid job posting phrases that will get you flamed
  • Explain how to have an actual human conversation with a savvy millennial or Gen Z employee without corpo-speak

10:50 – 11:05 a.m. - Networking Break

11:05 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. - “Legal Updates for Maryland Employers - 2024”
Presented by Charles R. Bacharach, Partner, Gordon Feinblatt, LLC
In the last year, Maryland has been affected by sweeping changes to employment law.  Join Chuck Bacharach, Chair of the Employment Law Practice Group at Gordon Feinblatt, LLC, for this informative session covering Maryland’s Time to Care Act, the Fair Wage Act, the Pregnant Workers’ Protection Act, and other recent changes in the laws affecting Maryland workplaces

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. - Lunch | Networking

1:00 – 1:50 p.m.  - "Investing in Your People - Exploring Ways to Encourage Professional Development"
Presented by Gauri Sharma, Vice President of Professional Certifications, American Bankers Association
In this session, Gauri Sharma will provide information about ABA’s certifications in Compliance, Risk, Financial Crimes and Wealth Management.  She will share not just the value proposition, but also examples of how banks are partnering with the ABA to deploy creative ways to prepare their best employees to become certified and maintain their certification.

1:50 - 2:40 p.m. - "Recruiting, Retention, and Onboarding Best Practices"
Presented by Nancy Sima, Manager, Financial Services Channels, OnCourse Learning

2:40 - 2:55 p.m. - Networking Break

2:55 – 3:55 p.m. - “Roaring Success with the Right Peeps in the Jeep”
Presented by Steve Fredlund, “The Safari Dude”
It is so frustrating to have high potential team members who aren’t as productive as they could be. They have the skills, knowledge and abilities to make a huge impact but are disengaged and don’t stick around. The problem is not their potential, it is converting that potential to actual contribution. How can we add team members who will have the impact they are capable of?

3:55 – 4:00 p.m. - Closing Remarks |Adjourn
Agenda is subject to change.
