As the banking industry's voice in Annapolis and in Washington, D.C., representatives of MBA’s Public Policy team regularly meet with federal and state legislators, industry regulators, public policymakers, and gives testimony on behalf of its members at hearings on bills that impact the Maryland banking industry.
Now, more than ever, the financial services industry must remain vigilant. New laws and regulations are proposed almost daily, putting additional burdens on an already heavily regulated industry. During the annual Maryland General Assembly Session, MBA’s Government Relations Council (GRC) reviews hundreds of bills to determine what changes may impact our industry.
Members are strongly encouraged to participate in the legislative process through meetings with legislators and MBA legislative events such as the Legislative Dinner and the Annual Washington Visit. All are excellent opportunities to meet legislators face to face and build relationships that will have a positive impact on all member institutions.
If you have any questions or want to get involved with the legislative process, contact MBA's Senior Policy & Political Strategist, Evan Richards(443-983-1331).
