How to Prepare for Your Meeting
To help you make the most of your time with legislators, we encourage you to prepare for conversations that may take place during the meeting. The following topics may serve as helpful discussion points.
Introduce Yourself and Build Relationships – Strong relationships are the foundation of effective advocacy. Consider discussing:
- Your role and responsibilities at your bank.
- Previous interactions with the legislator through MBA events, community activities, or constituent engagement.
- Recent developments at your institution, such as branch expansions, new services, community programs, or other noteworthy initiatives.
- Opportunities for future engagement, including community events, grand openings, or financial education programs.
- Your willingness to serve as a resource on banking and financial services issues affecting their constituents.
Demonstrate Your Bank’s Impact on the Community – Help legislators understand the important role banks play in supporting local communities by sharing:
