Local & Federal Legislation

Local Legislation

While MBA’s primary focus is at the federal and state level, MBA takes action on local issues if they are precedent-setting and/or have state-wide implications.

Maryland bankers are deeply involved in their local communities. Teamed with influential local bankers, the MBA’s advocacy team has worked with local governments to successfully manage issues at the county or city level.

Federal Legislation

The MBA continues to keep abreast of federal proposed laws, legislation, and regulations that impact the banking industry. Perhaps at no other time has the industry had to respond to so many changes and challenges at the federal level.

The influence of Maryland’s bankers on national policy is especially strong, owing to MBA’s proximity to the nation’s capital, and because members of Maryland’s congressional delegation hold key positions in Congress.
