About the Emerging Leaders Program

Open to ambitious rising bankers across Maryland, the MBA Emerging Leaders Program is a gateway to accelerated career growth and industry influence. This premier professional development experience equips bankers with cutting-edge knowledge, leadership skills, and exclusive access to a full spectrum of industry initiatives. Emerging Leaders not only strengthen their networks with peers and top decision-makers, but also gain insights from industry innovators and advocacy leaders—positioning them as the future of banking.

Why should I nominate an Emerging Leader?

Nominating a banker for the Emerging Leaders Program is an investment in the future of your bank. If workforce resilience and leadership development matter to you, this program delivers unmatched value. By nominating an Emerging Leader, you help identify and cultivate the next generation of leaders—building a team that is diverse, informed, and prepared for tomorrow’s challenges. Graduates of the program consistently make smarter business decisions thanks to their deeper engagement with MBA initiatives and a comprehensive understanding of Maryland’s banking ecosystem. In short, nominating a candidate strengthens your institution and positions it for long-term success.

The Ideal Nominee

The Emerging Leaders Program is designed for driven banking professionals with less than 10 years of industry experience who are eager to accelerate their career trajectory. Ideal candidates are those aspiring to leadership roles or currently managing teams and seeking to expand their influence and impact. If your bank is committed to professional growth, passionate about shaping the future of banking, and ready to build powerful connections, this program offers your bankers the tools, insights, and network to lead with confidence.

 Program Components

  • Exclusive Access to Industry Thought Leaders
Participate in seven curated “anchor” meetings focused on relevant banking leadership and advocacy strategies.
  • Tailored Government Relations & Professional Development Experiences
Engage in association-sponsored events that enhance leadership and advocacy skills and prepare bankers for future leadership roles.
  • Philanthropic & Community Service Project
Design and execute a meaningful project that gives back to the community while showcasing bank leadership in action.

Program Expectations

Participation in the Emerging Leaders Program requires a strong commitment to engagement throughout the year. Emerging Leaders are expected to attend mandatory “anchor” meetings, each designed to deliver high-value insights and networking opportunities. These sessions are held in person at various locations across Maryland, requiring occasional in-state travel and at least one overnight stay. Active involvement ensures participants gain the full benefit of this immersive leadership experience and positions them for maximum growth and impact.
