The Maryland Bankers Association maintains three membership categories that are differentiated by type of business.  The requirements for each category are as follows:

Charter Member

A nationally- or state-chartered commercial bank, trust company or savings bank; or a federally-chartered savings bank or savings and loan association which is headquartered, incorporated and authorized to solicit deposits in the state of Maryland but is headquartered outside of the state.

Associate Financial Member

A state, national or foreign bank or a state or federal savings bank or savings and loan association that is doing business in Maryland and does not qualify to be a Charter Member.  And, a trust company, insurance company, securities broker dealer, or other corporation or partnership that provides financial services as its primary business and that is doing business inMaryland and does not qualify to be a Charter Member.

Associate Member

A business entity that does not meet the eligibility requirements of any other class of membership but that has an interest in the Maryland banking industry.
