The Maryland Bankers Association sponsors a comprehensive schedule of programs tailored to the functional divisions within the financial services industry. Professional development opportunities are available to directors, senior management and staff working in compliance, consumer lending, commercial lending, marketing, trust and operations. Specialized seminars are presented frequently to provide exposure to developing industry trends or to help members understand specific issues or regulations.

The Maryland Banking School
The Maryland Banking School, held each summer at The University of Maryland University College, is the largest single component in the MBA's extensive education program. This year will mark the 33rd session of the three-year general banking school which graduates approximately 35 students each year. The school's curriculum emphasizes multi-discipline, hands-on experience that prepares students for situations they are likely to encounter in their own banks.
Initial courses cover basic banking principles and then move on to the application of those principles in the second year. During the senior year the focus is on management. The school culminates in a bank simulation course that allows students to apply the skills they have learned. Students participate in a simulated bank environment where they set goals, forecast performance, respond to changing market conditions and solve problems typical of day-to-day banking operations.
The 2008 Maryland Banking School will be held from August 3-8, 2008. To view the brochure for this year, please click here! You can also download the application here. If you have any further questions, please contact Joanna Weinreich, Assistant Director for the school.
