Maryland Bankers Association Launches New Council of Professional Women in Banking and Finance

Annapolis, MD (April 29, 2013) – The Maryland Bankers Association (MBA) is pleased to announce the creation of a new Council of Professional Women in Banking and Finance (CPWBF) which will be launched with a sell-out Inaugural Annual Conference taking place on May 2 at the BWI Hilton.  The conference, designed to benefit all individuals who serve in a leadership capacity within banks or financial institutions, includes a full line-up of nationally renowned speakers and topics consisting of Kelly McDonald of McDonald Marketing – Named #1 on the list of “26 Hot Speakers” by Successful Meetings Magazine - who will address Changes that Drive Business – Today and Tomorrow, and Jennifer Burns, Senior Vice President of Supervision Regulation and Credit, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, who will discuss the regulatory landscape.

CPWBF’s mission is to encourage, empower, and inspire women to reach their goals in their banking and finance careers through ongoing education, and personal and professional development.  Innovative programs and activities enable them to reach for the GOLDGrowth, Opportunity, Leadership, and Development.  The Council will offer mentoring and networking opportunities throughout the year with an annual
conference on the first Thursday each May.

According to MBA's President & CEO, Kathleen Murphy, "Professional women comprise a significant percentage of the banking industry work force.  We are thrilled to acknowledge the important role of women in the industry's success through the creation of this dynamic infrastructure. The Council will promote mentoring and networking throughout the year to enable women to achieve their professional and personal goals."
