Effective October 1, 2012 Maryland financial institutions must: (1) have an elder financial abuse training program in place, and (2) report suspected cases of elder financial abuse. To help our members comply with the new law, MBA in partnership with BankersEdge developed a turn-key elder abuse training and reporting program entitled Maryland Elder Financial Exploitation Detection, Prevention, and Reporting. This 60-minute, on-line training program, specific to Maryland law, is designed to be used with a wide range of bank personnel including front line staff, back office staff, supervisors, security personnel, etc. The program is tailored for financial institutions to use in their branches on a rolling or annual basis and will include added benefits such as sample reporting forms and protocols - which can used as is or tailored for your institution's use. This course meets Maryland's legal requirements and teaches employees to recognize elder financial abuse signs and know how and when to report elder financial abuse. Click here to learn more about the program and/or to purchase your online training program today!
